Got interested in rally in 2001 when he attended the 2001 Oregon Trail Rally. Met a great bunch of folks at Rim of the World rally in 2001 and decided that he wanted to build a rally car. Attended his first ever rallycross in May 2001 and got further hooked on the sport. Attended several more rallies in 2001 and 2002. In early 2003, got an opportunity to co-drive for an Open class Impreza and Cavett Rally Motorsports. Co-drove through the 2003-2004 season, whilst yearning to build and drive his own car. In late 2004, parted ways with Cavett Rally Motorsports to start RoundtheBend Motorsports. Throughout the winter of 2004/2005, built an Open class 1999 Subaru Legacy GT w/ a 2.0L turbo engine. Ran the 2005 season, starting with the Doo Wop Rally Series. Best result for the 2005 season was a 7th place overall finish at the 2005 running of Rim of the World rally in Palmdale, CA.
An unfortunate roll at the 2005 Ramada Express rally in Laughlin, NV brought the season to a sudden end. The team took the 2006 season off to regroup and to focus on building a new car. We purchased the 1995 Impreza wagon in late 2006 and slowly started building a new chassis. Wild Irish Motorsports stepped up and helped out with both the drivetrain swap and the paintwork required to transform the stock car into the new and improved RallyWagon.
The new chassis had debuted at the 2007 Olympus rally in Shelton, WA. Despite some large, unexpected problems leading up to the event, the chassis held up very well and provided the crew with a stable platform for the event. Due to some unfortunate scheduling with flight times, the co-driver was unable to finish the event and the team withdrew.
